Don’t Tread On Me
With the overturning of Roe V Wade, I question the ironic use of the 1775 slogan “Don’t Tread on Me” as a calling card for “Pro-Lifers”. This cartoonish depiction of a deflated uterus is my cry for hope. While one fallopian tube reaches for help, the other lies on the ground in defeat- a boot imprint imposes on the space between them.
The right to control the function of my own body is being stomped on by a man's size 9 boot. A boot that has never experienced menstrual cramps, PMS, or pregnancy scares. A boot that knows not the pain of infertility or the loss of a fetus- and will never understand the gravity of lacking jurisdiction over their own body.
